                                                            Leguminous root  nodules 

The symbiotic relationship of rhizobium ( Nitrogen fixing bacteria) with roots of leguminous plants is widely known. (Bacillus radicicola) are the nitrogen fixing bacteria found in nodulated roots of members of family leguminous like gram , peas and groundnut etc. there is present in pink colour pigment in the roots nodules called as Leghaemoglobin.

Formation of leguminous roots nodules 
nitrogen fixing bacteria originally soil inhabitants. When they come in contact with the root hair of a leguminous plant , penetration begins. The legume roots produces  tryptophan which converted into IAA ( insole acetic acid ) by the bacteria. Bacteria produces another substance called “ curling factor” which bring twisting in roots . The infected cells divide rapidly resulting formation of nodule .
The nodules consists of a central core area and cortical area .
* the rhizobium bacteria become large, irregularly shaped cells which produce and release plant growth hormone like auxins which helps to induce the formation of a mass cells- the nodule.
* nature root nodule in cross section vascular supply to the nodule.
* bacteria are provided with sugar by the host , excess of amino acid is translocated in the host tissue.
